About Us

Beginnings

The idea of building a crematorium near St Andrews was first thought about by a group of people back in 2012 when a plot of land became available for sale.

The plot of land had originally been identified for holiday homes, but knowing that there wasn’t a crematorium located close to St Andrews and that people had quite a journey to make, the thought was to build a crematorium to serve the local area.

In 2013 plans were drawn up and a planning application was submitted which was subsequently granted. At this point the project stopped and it wasn’t until early 2019 that a new group of investors decided to submit plans which were altered from the original. This planning was also approved but very quickly afterwards, in early 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic caused the project to slow. Building work was eventually able to start in November 2020 and took about 18 months to complete.

Brewsterwells crematorium building is modern but respectful with up to date technology allowing live streaming of funerals as well as the choice of any type of music to be played. In the future we plan to offer a memorial walkway where people can purchase a lasting tribute to family or friends to be a place where they are remembered.

We have chosen to space the times out throughout the day to allow for more time between one service finishing and the next service starting. We operate an online booking system for funeral directors so they can book time slots out with our office opening hours.
